On November 30, 2019, Credit Bank announced a partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) to support women-led businesses in Kenya and across Africa.

The partnership aims to promote financial inclusion for African women through the Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa (AFAWA) initiative, launched at the 4th Global Gender Summit in Kigali, Rwanda.

As part of the agreement, AfDB and its partners will lobby G7 member nations to allocate $3 billion towards the AFAWA initiative, which will provide loans to women entrepreneurs across Africa over the next five years.

According to Mrs. Betty Korir, CEO of Credit Bank, the bank aims to enhance gender inclusivity by enabling the growth and development of women and improving their accessibility to capital for growth and expansion.

“As Credit Bank, we seek to be on the forefront in enabling the growth of women-led enterprises,” Mrs. Korir added.

With its fintech capacity, Credit Bank has made it easier for business owners to make transactions, and has customized some of its fintech products for women.
