On November 30, 2019, Mwamba RFC pulled off a thrilling 15-13 victory over Kenya Harlequins in a Kenya Cup match at the RFUEA grounds in Nairobi, propelling them to fifth place in the log with 20 points.
The match saw Kevin Wambua's charges score two tries, with one conversion and a penalty, while Dominique Habinama's team managed a converted try and two penalties.
Quins' Lyle Asiligwa opened the scoring with a penalty in the 10th minute, but Mwamba's Meshack Obota soon equalized with a try, which he also converted, making it 7-3 for Mwamba in the 14th minute.
However, Quins regained the lead in the 21st minute, with Herman Humwa scoring a try, and Asiligwa converting to make it 10-7 at halftime.
Joel Inzuga scored Mwamba's second try just six minutes into the second half, with Obota's conversion going wide, making it 12-10 for Mwamba.
The remaining half hour of the match saw both teams scoring a penalty each, with Mwamba emerging victorious 15-13 at full time.
Elsewhere, Kabras Sugar continued their winning streak, defeating defending champions KCB RFC 19-6 to move to the top of the log with 29 points.
Other results from the weekend included Homeboyz moving to third place with 24 points after beating varsity side Blaq Blad 32-22, and Impala Saracens slipping to fourth with 20 points after losing 30-20 to Top Fry Nakuru.
Menengai Oilers remained sixth with 16 points after defeating Nondescripts 27-6, while Western Bulls won their second match of the season, demolishing Kisumu RFC 23-5 to move to eighth place with 10 points.
