Victor Wanyama Gives Back to His Roots ¶
On November 30, 2019, Harambee Stars midfielder Victor Wanyama made a generous donation to his boyhood club, Country Bus FC, and Muthurwa Boxing Club in Kenya. He purchased a fully furnished bus, which will be shared by the two clubs.
Wanyama, who is known as the 'Lion of Muthurwa,' has a strong connection to the clubs, having played for them in his early years. He expressed his gratitude to the clubs for nurturing his talent and hopes that this donation will be the beginning of the team's ascendancy to the top.
According to a tweet from the Victor Wanyama Foundation, the bus is a token of appreciation for the clubs' efforts in producing talented players. The foundation's vision is to have a decent complex that can house both indoor and outdoor sporting activities, as well as match international standards.
Wanyama's donation is a significant gesture, especially considering his brother MacDonald Mariga's criticism for not giving back to the society while he was actively involved in football. It seems that Wanyama has learned from his brother's mistakes and is now actively involved in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities back at home.
Wanyama's generosity extends beyond the bus donation. He has also confirmed plans to build an ultra-modern football complex in the country through the Victor Wanyama Foundation. The complex will house both indoor and outdoor sporting activities and match international standards.
