On Friday, a passenger fell ill aboard a SGR train traveling from Mombasa to Nairobi, resulting in a tragic loss of life.

According to reports, Florence Makau, a diabetic passenger, lost consciousness after her blood sugar levels rose, causing her blood pressure to drop.

Ms. Makau's sister, Damaris, accompanied her on the five-hour journey, which began at 3:15 pm on Friday. However, Florence started complaining of dizziness, and at one point, she said she was going to faint, as reported by Damaris.

As the train approached the Kibwezi station, Florence's condition deteriorated, prompting the crew to make an emergency stop to resuscitate her.

Despite the crew's efforts, Florence was rushed to Kibwezi Sub County Hospital, where she was admitted after her condition failed to stabilize. Unfortunately, she died an hour after being admitted.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of passengers traveling on the SGR train, with some passengers expressing concerns about the lack of emergency medical kits and medics on board.
