Kenyan footballer Victor Wanyama has shown his appreciation for his humble beginnings by purchasing a 40-seater bus for Country Bus FC and Muthurwa Boxing Club.

Wanyama, the captain of Harambee Stars, made the purchase through his Victor Wanyama Foundation, which is based in London.

The bus, which was cleared at the port of Mombasa on Friday, is expected to arrive in Nairobi on Saturday and will be branded with the club's logo.

Wanyama, who is a midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur, expressed his gratitude to Country Bus FC for nurturing his talent and said he hopes the bus will be the beginning of the team's success.

"East or west home is always the best. I can never run away from the fact that I was born and bred in Muthurwa and that Country Bus FC nurtured my talent. I am happy to give back to the team in a small way and hope this will be the beginning of the team's ascendancy to the top," Wanyama told Nation Sport.

Country Bus FC is currently ninth in the Nairobi East County League with three points from two matches.
