Third Suspect in Laikipia Military Camp Murders Arrested

On November 28, 2019, James Maina Mwangi was arrested and detained to assist police in their investigations into the murders of Joyce Syombua and her two children at Laikipia military camp.

According to the Director of Criminal Investigations, Mwangi was believed to have planned the murders with the main suspect, Meja Peter Mugure.

Meja Mugure had been accused of murdering his former lover, Joyce Syombua, and her two children after they visited him at the camp despite a bitter breakup.

Police had been investigating the case, which involved DNA evidence and a court order for Meja Mugure to pay child support to Syombua.

Meja Mugure was arrested after the three went missing, and he was unable to explain what happened after they visited him.

Another suspect, Collins Pamba, was also arrested and charged with the murders, with the case set to be mentioned again on December 9, 2019.
