On November 30, 2019, a chaotic scene unfolded at the Qorahay grounds in Wajir County during the Inua Mama rally, leaving several people with minor injuries.
A goon from Kibra, Nairobi, was arrested for allegedly lobbing a teargas canister at the crowd, causing confusion and pandemonium.
Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has voiced her suspicions that the goon might have been sent by ODM boss Raila Odinga, citing the fact that the man flew from Nairobi to Wajir to disrupt the rally.
“We both know that Raila has always been against development and this could certainly be his work,” she noted.
Wajir County Police Commander Stephen Ng'etich confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect was apprehended as he tried to flee during the chaos.
Ng'etich also revealed that the police are pursuing three other suspects in relation to the incident and have identified four individuals who flew to Wajir from Nairobi in a Jetways plane.
Omanga has vowed to pursue justice and ensure the perpetrators are brought to book, warning the suspected organizer of the chaos.
“I want to assure Raila that Inua Mama will not go down as he has tried, we must empower women,” Omanga reaffirmed.
