Naivasha police are holding a 17-year-old boy who allegedly killed a 16-year-old girl by stabbing her over ten times on Thursday afternoon.
The girl, Valerie Njeri, went missing while manning her family's shop in Mirera estate, located off the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu road, and her body was found by neighbours on Friday morning.
According to the girl's father, John Nduno, they had left Naivasha for a burial when their daughter went missing, and they were informed that her body had been found on Friday morning.
"When we came back in the evening we tried searching for her to no avail," Nduno said.
The suspect, who is a form two student, lured the girl to his house on Thursday afternoon and committed the act after she rejected his sexual advances.
After spending the night with the corpse under his bed, he decided to dump it outside their gate, leaving behind a trail of blood.
The mother of the suspect, Susan Ruguru, said that they were not in when the incident occurred and were trying to come to terms with the murder.
"Since he went to form three he has changed and has become rude but we never knew he would commit such a crime," Ruguru said.
A neighbour, Jane Wanjiku, described the murdered girl as very humble, respectful, and bright, adding that her death had left them in shock.
Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed the incident, stating that the body had been collected while the suspect was in their custody.
