Matiang'i Denies Knowing About Kibra Violence

Kenya's Interior Minister Fred Matiang'i has denied knowing about the violence that occurred in Kibra during the November 7 by-election.

Speaking at a fundraising event in Kirinyaga on November 29, Matiang'i said he was not aware of any plans to cause chaos in Kibra, and accused his critics of trying to undermine his work.

'I want to inform politicians who claim that Kibicho is manipulating me that I am a public servant and my duty is to serve all Kenyans,' Matiang'i said.

He also accused his critics of trying to distract him from his work, saying 'If you want to fight your opponents, then fight Governor Hassan Joho who will defeat you. Instead of fighting us, you want to fight me.'

Matiang'i's comments come after a group of politicians, including Kimani Ichung'wa and other allies of Deputy President William Ruto, accused him of knowing about the violence in Kibra and conspiring with Kibicho to cause chaos.

However, Matiang'i denied the allegations, saying he was not involved in any plans to cause violence in Kibra.

'I am a public servant and my duty is to serve all Kenyans, not just a few politicians,' he said.

He also accused his critics of trying to undermine his work, saying 'If you want to fight your opponents, then fight Governor Hassan Joho who will defeat you. Instead of fighting us, you want to fight me.'

The allegations against Matiang'i come after a group of politicians, including Kimani Ichung'wa and other allies of Deputy President William Ruto, accused him of knowing about the violence in Kibra and conspiring with Kibicho to cause chaos.

However, Matiang'i denied the allegations, saying he was not involved in any plans to cause violence in Kibra.
