On November 30, 2019, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu faced the wrath of legislators after failing to provide support documents for funds channeled to her county.

Ngilu, who had snubbed the Senate County Public Accounts and Investments Committee (CPAIC) three times, was fined Sh500,000 by the committee for late submission of crucial documents.

CPAIC chairperson Moses Kajwang' stated that the committee would not allow governors to ambush them, and that they would apply sanctions as spelt out in the Powers and Privileges Act.

“We are going to apply sanctions as spelt out in the Powers and Privileges Act,” ruled Kajwang'.
