Located near Lake Elementaita, the Soysambu ranch is a testament to the Delemare family's agricultural prowess. Founded by Lord Delemare, a pioneer farmer, the family's legacy in the country's agriculture sector is undeniable.

However, the dairy business that once defined the family's success has been sold off to Brookside Dairies in 2007. The decision was made due to economic viability concerns, according to Nelson Rotich, the farm's managing director.

"We let Brookside Dairies use our signature brand, Delemare, to market and sell their products," Rotich said.

Despite the end of their dairy business, the family has maintained its tradition of rearing beef animals, mostly Borans. The ranch has become a hub for farmers from East Africa, who come to learn about beef production.

"Farmers from several East African states visit the ranch to learn about the beef business," Rotich added.

The Delemare family has diversified its business, focusing on horticulture. They grow lucerne for commercial purposes and have partnered with Vegpro Company to cultivate vegetables on 1,000 acres of land.

"We purely grow our farm produce for the local market, which is huge," Rotich explained.

The farm has become a popular destination for farmers and traders, with several fruit stalls and fast food joints set up within the premises.

"It is almost involuntary for travellers to stop going by the history of the Delemare yoghurt. The brand name is still very popular with consumers," Rotich said.
