Published on November 29, 2019, the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report has been met with mixed reactions from Kenyans. Economist W. Kimariech believes that the report's proposal to expand the Executive is a step in the wrong direction, especially in the midst of a bloated public wage bill and rampant corruption.

According to Kimariech, the report was crafted to 'massage the egos of the powers that be and never for posterity.' He suggests that the economy could still be salvaged by incorporating some of Ekuru Aukot's 'Punguza Mizigo' proposals, which aim to reduce the burden on Kenyans.

Meanwhile, Ruth Gituma, a resident of Machakos County, has a different take on the 2019 National Census results. She believes that the leaders complaining about the reduced numbers in their counties should use the information to plan better for their populations, develop infrastructure, and provide basic amenities.

Gituma points out that Machakos and Kiambu counties have seen significant population growth due to the development of real estate in response to the demand for housing on Nairobi's outskirts.

Former Safaricom CEO Michael Joseph once marvelled at Kenyans' peculiar calling habits, but Brian Walker, writing from Malindi, says that high-profile Kenyans often respond to adverse publicity by appearing even more holier-than-thou. He cites Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Busia Senator Amos Wako as examples.

Lastly, Arif Mandviwalla laments the poor state of General Mathenge Road in Westlands, Nairobi, which was recarpeted only six months ago. He demands that the contractor redo the job immediately, citing a warranty period.

Have an impeccable day, won't you!
