On November 27, 2019, a group of parents stormed the home of a Kenyan pastor in Mwingi, Kitui County, demanding to know the whereabouts of their missing daughters.
The parents had discovered that the pastor, whose identity has not been revealed, had been asking them to send their children to him for prayers, only to sexually assault them.
According to the parents, the pastor would often intoxicating some of the girls before taking advantage of them, resulting in over 20 girls becoming pregnant.
Many of the girls had dropped out of school due to the pregnancies, and the parents were left with no choice but to seek justice.
Confirming the incident, Mwingi Sub-county OCPD Peter Mutuma stated that over 10 missing girls were rescued from rental houses neighboring the pastor's house, while the cleric managed to escape.
The pastor's wife was arrested as investigations into the matter continue.
