On a fateful Sunday evening, 8-year-old Kinsley Kimutai watched the devastating news of landslides in West Pokot on KTN's 7pm news. The images of half-naked children, their houses swept away by floods, left him deeply disturbed.
Kimutai, a grade two pupil at the Roy Academy in Eldoret, couldn't shake off the thought of the suffering children. He confided in his father, Isaac Burgei, and suggested making a donation to help the victims.
According to his father, Kimutai was persistent in his request, and his emotional plea touched Burgei's heart. Burgei approached his close friends, and together they collected bundles of clothes, foodstuffs, including 100 kilograms of sugar and 450 kilograms of flour.
Kimutai, along with his parents, is now looking forward to handing over the donations to the victims in West Pokot next week.
