Published on November 29, 2019, Equity Bank and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) are on the cusp of securing their places in the playoff final of the Women's Premier League.

Equity Bank, the reigning champions, lead UON Dynamites 2-0 in their series, while KPA holds a similar advantage over Storms. Both teams need just one more win to reach the final.

Equity Bank will face UON Dynamites at the Nyayo Gymnasium in Nairobi on Saturday, while KPA will host Storms at the Makande Gymnasium in Mombasa.

According to Equity Bank's head coach, David Maina, the team is focused on wrapping up the series on Saturday to give their players time to rest and prepare for the finals.

“We want to wrap it up on Saturday so that players can have time to rest and prepare for finals. Preparations are going on well and the morale of the team is high,” Maina said.

Meanwhile, KPA's head coach, Mike Opel, is confident that his team will continue their dominance against Storms, who they met in the semi-finals last season.

“I know it won’t be easy, storms would want to push it to as many games as possible, I expect them to come guns blazing, but I’m preparing my team for a tough fight both physically and mentally, so that we win the series on Saturday,” Opel said.

Storms' head coach, Abel Nson, remains optimistic that his team can pull off an upset, citing the return of injured players and the team's determination to win.

“We don’t have any choice but to win the Mombasa games. The players who were on injuries are back and now available. In elimination games is not always about tactics but about who wants it more, I feel optimistic that we will give them a good fight,” Nson said.
