On November 29, 2019, Arsenal Football Club announced the appointment of Freddie Ljungberg as their interim manager, replacing Unai Emery who was sacked after a seven-game winless run.
Freddie Ljungberg, a former Swedish footballer, has promised to restore smiles on the faces of Arsenal fans and players. He took to Twitter to express his commitment to the role, stating, 'However long I oversee Arsenal for, I will give everything I have to put smiles on faces again. We have a busy few weeks ahead and the team needs your support. Let's get to work.'
Ljungberg's first test as interim manager will be against Norwich City in the Premier League. Arsenal currently occupies the eighth position on the Premier League standings with 18 points after 13 games played this season.
It is worth noting that Ljungberg's reign as Arsenal's interim manager may be short-lived, as he does not currently hold a Pro Licence certificate, a requirement for becoming the permanent manager at the Emirates stadium. He currently holds a UEFA A Licence and will need to obtain the Pro Licence within the next 12 weeks to remain in the role.
