As the KHU hockey league draws to a close, Butali Sugar Warriors and Blazers are on the cusp of achieving an unbeaten season. The title coronation ceremony for the two teams is scheduled to take place this weekend at City Park.
Butali will face fourth-placed Greensharks on Sunday in a bid to achieve the same feat as Blazers, who have already finished the season unbeaten. The match will be preceded by a high-stakes clash between Kenya Police and Wazalendo, with either team sealing the second spot with a win.
On Saturday, Sikh Union and Parklands will take on Western Jaguars and Strathmore University Gladiators respectively, while Chase Sailors will wrap up the season with a clash against United States International University (USIU).
Meanwhile, in the women's league, Amira Sailors are in a position to seal the third spot if they attain wins in their two remaining fixtures against Strathmore University and Lakers on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Already relegated to the second-tier league are Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). Butali successfully defended their title with a total of 45 points in 14 wins and three draws, while Blazers sealed their 22nd title after 12 wins and two draws.
