Published on November 29, 2019, Arsenal fans in Kenya are rejoicing over the sacking of manager Unai Emery.

The English Premier League club had cited below-par performances as the reason for Emery's departure, which was announced on Friday.

As the search for Emery's successor begins, Arsenal has installed former player Fredrik Ljungberg as caretaker coach.

Meanwhile, fans in Kenya have formed a WhatsApp group, 'Unai Emery Sacking Party tonight,' to plan the celebration.

The group, which had 10 active members by 4 pm Kenyan time on Friday, agreed to contribute Sh1,000 each for 'zingas' (bottles of whisky) as part of the occasion.

English football is popular in Kenya and Africa, where fans passionately follow matches on satellite TV.

Notably, fans of Arsenal's rivals, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool, sarcastically mourned Emery's departure.

Former managers Mauricio Pochettino and Massimiliano Allegri have been mentioned as potential successors to Emery, who had been in charge for 18 months.
