On November 29, 2019, a Nairobi court made a landmark ruling in a child support case involving State House Director of Digital New Media Dennis Itumbi.
A DNA test had confirmed that Itumbi was the father of a baby girl, and the court ordered him to pay a monthly allowance of Sh20,000 to cater for the child's needs.
The court also granted Itumbi access to the child, but the mother retained legal custody. The case will be mentioned on December 18 to assess the progress of an out-of-court settlement.
Itumbi had initially denied the child's paternity, but a DNA test result positively identified him as the father. He later announced the news on Twitter, saying, 'The child is mine. May the child suckle with both cheeks,' and adding, 'DNA is #SystemYaFacts.'
