Published on November 29, 2019, a report highlighted the drawbacks of renewable energy.

One of the primary concerns is the high cost of renewable energy, making it unaffordable for the common people.

Another issue is the intermittent nature of renewable energy sources, which vary from day to day, month to month, and region to region.

This inconsistency necessitates the development of cost-effective storage systems to ensure a stable supply of electricity to the grid.

Additionally, renewable energy sources have low capacity factors, with solar energy having the lowest capacity factor of 0.2, followed by wind energy at 0.35.

Furthermore, the land requirements for renewable energy installations are substantial, with 4-5 acres of land needed for a 1 MW installation of solar panels.

Moreover, research and development in other forms of renewable energy, such as bioenergy, geothermal, and tidal energy, are lagging behind.

Lastly, the cost of alternative fuels for the transportation sector, such as biodiesel, hydrogen, and ethanol, are significantly higher than gasoline.
