On November 29, 2019, a tragic incident shook Kanduyi Constituency in Bungoma County when Joseph Wamalwa Wekesa, brother of area MP Athanas Misiko Wafula Wamunyinyi, was brutally murdered by his nephew Nicholas Simiyu Wafula.
According to eyewitnesses, the two had a fight earlier during the preparation of a memorial for one of their kin, which led to the tragic events that unfolded.
Wamalwa had allegedly injured his nephew's thumb during the altercation, but it was not enough to prevent the nephew's violent retaliation.
Witnesses claimed that Wafula took a kitchen knife and followed his uncle to his home, where he stabbed him on the chest several times.
George Odongo, Bungoma South OCS, stated that Wamalwa had also injured his nephew on the head.
The nephew's actions did not stop there; he also vandalized Wamalwa's home and killed his dogs.
