Kenyan blogger Dennis Itumbi has been ordered by a court to pay KSh 20,000 monthly to support a child born out of wedlock.
According to reports, Itumbi's DNA test confirmed that he is the father of the child, who was born to a woman he had a relationship with outside of marriage.
Itumbi has accepted responsibility for the child's birth and has vowed to provide the best possible care.
Speaking to a local blog, Itumbi acknowledged that he had been living a double life and had been under pressure from his family to settle down and get married.
He revealed that he had been in a relationship with the child's mother, but had not been in a position to marry her due to his busy schedule.
Itumbi's admission comes after a court ordered him to pay KSh 20,000 monthly to support the child, following a DNA test that confirmed his paternity.
Itumbi's case is the first of its kind in Kenya, where a prominent individual has been ordered to pay child support for a child born out of wedlock.
Itumbi's lawyer, Enricah Dulo, had initially requested that the court order Itumbi to pay KSh 50,000 monthly to support the child, but the court ultimately ruled in favor of the lower amount.
