On a thrilling Friday afternoon at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, Kakamega Homeboyz stunned Mathare United 3-1 in a Kenyan Premier League match.
Peter Thiongo scored a brace for Homeboyz, with the win taking them to second place on the log with 20 points from 11 matches.
Mathare United, on the other hand, are now seventh with 17 points after playing the same number of matches.
The match got off to a promising start for Mathare United, with Clifford Alwanga's header going wide in the seventh minute after a cross by James Kinyanjui.
Homeboyz had their own chances, with Moses Mudavadi heading wide in the half-hour mark after a good cross by David Okoth.
However, it was Thiongo who made the difference, scoring the opening goal just before the break with a header from Stephen Etyang's cross.
Thiongo doubled the lead in the 51st minute, tapping in a pass from Shami Kibwana.
Mathare United pulled one back in the 62nd minute through John Mwangi, but Homeboyz sealed the win with a third goal in the 81st minute, courtesy of David Okoth.
