November 29, 2019, marked a turning point for Daniel Mwangi, a 25-year-old University of Nairobi graduate. Instead of pursuing a career in Wildlife management, he decided to put his degree aside and venture into fashion and design.

According to Mwangi, the decision was driven by the harsh reality of unemployment in Kenya. 'It is difficult to get a job here in Kenya nowadays, even after you graduate. So I thought to myself, why can't I use my skills in fashion and design to earn my cash?' he says.

With a passion for fashion, Mwangi has managed to turn his venture into a booming business. His main marketing platform is the new media, with most of his clients coming from referrals on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Despite the challenges he faced, including lack of seed capital, Mwangi has persevered and is now able to pay his bills and assist his dependents. His main mantra in business is to never promise a client what one can't deliver, 'Deliver your assignments in good time, as agreed with your client, when you fail to do so, you lose clients, you lose money' he says.

Through his passion for fashion, Mwangi advises the youth to follow their passions and create jobs for themselves.
