On November 29, 2019, Dr. Emmanuel Manyasa, Country Manager of Twaweza East Africa, emphasized the crucial role of teachers in achieving quality education outcomes.
Speaking at a conference on education reforms in Machakos, Manyasa stated, "I would rather have children under a tree with a competent and motivated teacher than in well-constructed classrooms without such a teacher."
Manyasa highlighted the importance of retooling and motivating teachers to ensure they are equipped to deliver quality education. He also underscored the need for rigorous and reliable evidence to inform decision-making in the education sector.
A senior lecturer at the University of Nairobi, Dr. Andrew Riechi, echoed Manyasa's sentiments, emphasizing the significance of well-educated and trained teachers in achieving quality learning outcomes.
