Published on November 29, 2019, a Nairobi woman through her lawyer Enricah Dulo has accused Dennis Itumbi of attempting to convince her to abort their child.
According to court documents, Itumbi invited the woman for a meeting on October 26, 2018, where he tried to convince her to abort the pregnancy. The woman left the meeting and started bleeding, prompting her to be rushed to Jacaranda maternity hospital.
There, a medical doctor asked if she was trying to abort the foetus, which made her suspicious of the drink Itumbi had served her earlier. The woman claims Itumbi has been cruel to her and the minor, and has blocked her from engaging with him on the child's welfare.
Itumbi has since been ordered to pay upkeep for the child, with the children's court directing him to pay the woman an interim maintenance order of Sh20,000 monthly, pending hearing and determination of the case.
Results of a DNA test, which Itumbi had demanded, confirmed that he is the father of the baby girl. The court has allowed the parties to try and reach an out-of-court settlement on the matter, with the case to be mentioned on December 18 to get feedback on the attempt.
