Dennis Itumbi Ordered to Pay Monthly Child Support ¶
On November 29, 2019, a Kenyan court ordered Dennis Itumbi, a digital communications officer for Deputy President William Ruto, to pay KSh 20,000 monthly for the upkeep of his daughter.
Itumbi had requested the court to conduct a DNA test to determine the paternity of the child, which was born on June 14 of this year. The test results confirmed that Itumbi is the father of the child.
According to the court's ruling, Itumbi will be required to pay KSh 20,000 monthly for the upkeep of the child until the case is resolved.
Itumbi had initially denied being the father of the child, but later admitted to being the father and promised to provide for the child's needs.
The court also ordered Itumbi to provide the child's mother with a birth certificate for the child.
Itumbi's lawyer, Enricah Dulo, had requested the court to order Itumbi to pay KSh 50,000 monthly for the upkeep of the child, including school fees, daily expenses, and health insurance.
However, the court rejected this request and instead ordered Itumbi to pay KSh 20,000 monthly.
Itumbi and the child's mother had a relationship from January to August 2018 before they separated after the mother discovered that Itumbi was overweight.
Itumbi had initially denied being the father of the child, but later admitted to being the father and promised to provide for the child's needs.
