Francis Wabuke Appointed as Mumias Sugar Acting General Manager

On November 29, 2019, KCB placed Mumias Sugar under receivership to protect its assets and maintain operations. The company is partly owned by the National Treasury, with a 20% stake.

Francis Wabuke, a former employee of Booker Tate, has been appointed as the acting General Manager for Mumias Sugar. Wabuke has experience in the agricultural production and processing industry.

The company is set to revive milling in January 2020 after carrying out repairs and maintenance of the factory.

As the receiver-manager, Ponangapalli Venkata Ramana Rao has been leading the company since its placement under receivership.
