Kenyan Woman Arrested for Drunk Driving in US, Tries to Bribe Police

On November 20, 2019, Rachel Michuki, a 41-year-old Kenyan woman, was arrested in the United States after crashing into another vehicle in George Busbee Parkway.

According to the Cobb County Police Department, Michuki failed an alcoblow test at the scene of the crime, which led to her arrest.

Documents presented in court revealed that Michuki offered one of the police officers who arrested her cash in exchange for freedom. The incident occurred after Michuki crashed into another vehicle, breaking her daughter's left collarbone.

Michuki was released on a KSh 870,716 bond by a Cobb county court and spent a night at Cobb county jail before being released.

Michuki's actions have sparked outrage, with many questioning the prevalence of corrupt behavior among Kenyans abroad.
