President Uhuru Commissions 136 General Service Officer Cadets at Kenya Military Academy

On November 29, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta presided over the commissioning parade for 136 General Service Officer cadets at the Kenya Military Academy in Lanet, Nakuru County.

The President was accompanied by Defence Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo, Chief of Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe, Service Commanders, and other top-ranking military officials, as well as Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui.

President Uhuru reiterated Kenya's commitment to participating in peace missions in the region, particularly in combating terrorism, and emphasized that Kenyan troops would continue to be part of the peacekeeping mission in Somalia (Amisom) until its objective is achieved.

"We remain steadfast in bringing peace in our region. Our troops will continue being part of Amisom until our objective is achieved. Our fight against terrorism will continue so as to secure our borders from any external threats," said President Uhuru.
