Published on November 29, 2019, two high-ranking government officials have expressed their support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report. Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and Environment CS Keriako Tobiko spoke at a goat auction in Kajiado town, where they joined leaders in supporting 4,000 families to receive medical cover through the National Hospital Insurance Fund.

According to the officials, the BBI report has the potential to bring more cohesion among Kenyan communities by addressing some of the issues that have been dividing them. Mr. Tobiko emphasized that the proposals outlined in the report are straightforward and that the executive summary presented by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga at the Bomas of Kenya on Wednesday is sufficient for understanding the content.

Dr. Matiang'i described the launch of the BBI as a defining moment for Kenya, highlighting the importance of leaders from across the political divide engaging with each other for the country's development. He also emphasized that the president has instructed them to engage both local and national leaders to hasten development.
