Ms Pamela Ingato Kembo, a house help for Ms Jacque Maribe, took the stand in the murder trial of Mr Joseph Irungu, alias Jowie, on November 28, 2019.
Ms Kembo recounted how Jowie would regularly take Maribe to work and then return home to sleep, later picking her up from work in the evening.
According to Ms Kembo, Jowie started visiting Maribe in 2017 and moved in with her in June 2018, introducing himself as an army officer working in Dubai.
On the night of September 19, 2018, Jowie followed his routine, taking Maribe to work and returning home to sleep. However, he left at 4 pm in Maribe's car, wearing grey shorts, a white shirt, and sneakers, carrying a backpack.
Ms Kembo stated that both Jowie and Maribe did not return that night, and she didn't hear them when they came back.
On September 20, 2018, Jowie took Maribe to work and returned home to sleep. Later that evening, he left again, and at around 1 am, Ms Kembo heard Jowie shouting for help. She found Jowie's clothes and belongings downstairs and rushed to the master bedroom, where she saw blood and a gun.
Ms Kembo testified that Maribe and Kassaine took Jowie to the hospital and returned with his arm bandaged. Jowie and Maribe then went upstairs to sleep. About three days later, Jowie was picked up by police officers.
Ms Kembo's testimony came as Jowie and Maribe denied the accusations of killing Monica Kimani, whose lifeless body was found in the bathtub of her apartment in Lamuria Garden, Kilimani.
Justice James Wakiaga will rule on Jowie's application to be freed on bond in February, with the hearing resuming on March 17, 2020.
