Published on November 28, 2019, Arsenal head coach Unai Emery has spoken out about his situation at the club, despite a disappointing season.
Emery's side are currently eighth in the Premier League and have failed to win any of their last five league games, with the team being booed off following a 2-2 home draw against Southampton on Saturday.
However, Emery has stated that he feels supported by the club, saying: “The club is supporting me. I feel the club is responsible in that area. I really appreciate that a lot.”
He added that he feels strong with the support and is committed to turning the team's fortunes around, saying: “I know my responsibility is to come back and change the situation. We need to recover the confidence, I need to achieve good balance, and we need to be more compact.”
Emery also acknowledged that the team's defensive record has been a major issue, conceding 19 goals in 13 league games this season. He vowed to improve the team's defensive record, saying: “Really, the one thing we need is to be more compact. We are conceding more goals than we wanted and the opposition are creating more chances than we wanted. That is the first tactical issue I want to change.”
