November 28, 2019, marked a day of controversy for Dennis Itumbi, the Director of Digital New Media and Diaspora at the Presidential Strategic and Communication Unit (PSCU).
Itumbi took to Twitter to share news about Joseph Kuria Irungu, alias Jowie, who was to spend time in remand until February 13, 2020. However, his attempt to wish Jowie a favorable decision fell flat with Kenyans online, who were left unimpressed.
Some of the reactions included:
Uko na raha sana Jowie ako ndani lakini ujie Erick Omondi ako nje, draw is a fair game — OchiengOpinya (@OchiengOpinya) November 28, 2019
Tunajua umefurahia hiyo story. — Raphael Maina (@mainahralph) November 28, 2019
At least something that makes you happy. You now need to deal with Eric. — Papa Paulo (@PaulManyala1) November 28, 2019
Nko sure umefurahi sana bro. At least twa twa itaendelea bila hofu hadi Feb — Rono Kipkorir (@markipkorir) November 28, 2019
Itumbi's comments came after he was roughed up and thrown out of the dais during the launch of the BBI report in Bomas, where he was seated behind the first layer of Uhuru's security detail. Despite the incident, Itumbi downplayed the issue, stating that he was still working in the Office of the President at State House, Nairobi.
