On November 28, 2019, the DCI launched an intelligence operation in Kisauni, Mombasa County, after receiving a tip-off from members of the public.
As a result, seven suspected criminals were arrested and taken into police custody.
The suspects have been identified as Abubakar Mothar alias Sela Sela, Mohammed Juma Bakari alias Fujo, Shaban Nyati, Mohammed Abdallah alias Baba Yee, Mohamed Badi alias Daddy, Salid Salim Ndaro alias Salim Madiro, and Seif Kai Makembamba alias Biggy.
According to the DCI, investigations into their links to various crimes have been launched, and they will remain in police custody awaiting interrogation and subsequent arraignment in court.
