On Thursday, a devastating accident occurred along the Mai Mahiu-Limuru road when a truck crashed into eight vehicles, causing significant disruptions to traffic.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck was driving downhill when it developed mechanical problems and lost control, ramming into the oncoming cars.
Rescue efforts were underway as residents rushed to help those trapped in the wrecked vehicles.
As a result of the accident, traffic police advised motorists to seek alternative routes while they worked to clear the section of the road.
Kenya has seen a rise in road accidents in recent years, with a 2019 report by the National Transport and Safety Authority revealing a significant increase in fatalities compared to 2018.
According to the report, nearly every hour, a man dies in a road accident in Kenya, with 1756 men perishing in road accidents compared to 386 women from January 16, 2018, to September of the same year.
