On November 27, 2019, a group of 4 people from Southern Comfort Lodge in Nairobi's Buruburu area fell ill after consuming a concoction known as 'Dawa ya Maasai.'
According to eyewitnesses, the victims complained of stomach pains and vomiting shortly after taking the drink and were rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital in the afternoon.
Police have since launched an investigation into the incident, collecting vomit samples and the said concoction as evidence.
The body of the deceased was transferred to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination.
