On Wednesday night, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives in Kisauni, Mombasa County, arrested seven wanted criminals believed to have been involved in various criminal activities in the area.
According to the DCI detectives, the operation was intelligence-led and followed a tip-off from members of the public.
The suspects, who include Abubakar Mothar alias Sela Sela, Mohammed Juma Bakari aka Fujo, Shaban Nyati, Mohammed Abdallah alias Baba Yee, Mohammed Badi aka Daddy, Said Salim Ndaro aka Salim Madiro, and Seif Kai Makembamba aka Biggy, were arrested from their hideouts in the operation steered by DCI detectives.
The suspects will remain in police custody awaiting interrogation and subsequent arraignment in court as detectives proceed with further investigations.
Meanwhile, DCI detectives in Kisiani, Kisumu County, have arrested one suspect and recovered a pistol with six rounds of ammunition.
The suspect, Fredrick Odhiambo Nudu, was found hiding the weapon on the ceiling of his house.
Three other suspects had already been arrested and are assisting in investigations on the rampant cases of gun violence in the area.
