On November 28, 2019, a crucial testimony was given in the murder trial of Joseph 'Jowie' Irungu and media personality Jacque Maribe. Pamela Kembo, a househelp, took the stand and shared her knowledge of the events surrounding the murder of businesswoman Monicah Kimani.
According to Pamela, Jowie's activities were limited to dropping Jacque at work and picking her up when she was done. When he wasn't doing that, he was home, asleep.
During cross-examination by Jowie's lawyer, Prof Hassan Nandwa, Pamela revealed that Jacque was the one buying food in the house, as she was working at Citizen TV at the time. However, Nandwa questioned her about the rent money, asking if she had ever seen any of the money written on Citizen TV and how sure she was that it was her salary that bought food.
Pamela admitted that she didn't know who paid the rent after Jowie moved in. She also stated that after Jowie moved in, he would buy the food and do shopping.
