Published on November 28, 2019, a controversy has erupted in the Tanzanian music scene.
Ali Kiba, a renowned singer, has been accused by two Tanzanian artists, Mandojo na Domokaya, of stealing the popular 'Yeeh baba' ad-lib.
The two artists claim that they have been using the ad-lib for quite some time and that Ali Kiba has taken it without their consent.
“Yeeh baba sisi tumeanza kuitumia muda sana na kila mtu anajua kuwa Yeeeh baba ni yetu, sasa Alikiba yeye kaichukua na kuanza kuitumia bila ruhusa yetu” they said in an interview with Tanzania’s local media.
Ali Kiba's hit song 'Mshumaa' has been at the center of the controversy, with many questioning the authenticity of the ad-lib.
