Applications for the 2020 Women in News Programme have officially kicked off, inviting journalists from Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe to apply for the nine-month leadership accelerator programme.

Launched in 2015, the programme aims to develop and promote women leadership in the media, addressing the poor representation of women in senior management positions.

According to Jane Godia, East and Central Africa Programme Manager for WIN, the programme is life-changing, with participants experiencing significant career and personal growth.

"The programme is delivered through a minimum of five face-to-face sessions with the coaches, as well as emails, phone calls, and skills building," Godia explained.

Since its inception, over 500 participants have gone through the programme, transforming the careers of many women.

With the generous support of the Norwegian Government, the programme has been introduced to Uganda, and will now be part of the programme being held in Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana.

The application deadline is on December 15th, and applicants must have 2-3 years management experience and be working in the media sector.
