On November 28, 2019, gospel singer Ruth Matete made headlines with her secret wedding to Nigerian John Apewajoye, alias Beloved John. The couple chose to keep their union private, following rumors that Mr. Beloved had a wife, Juliet Aihinomo Idehen, and two children back in Nigeria.
Responding to the allegations, Ruth Matete denied her fiancé's alleged marriage, saying, 'Tell her to provide proof they are still married. I am aware that John is her ex-husband but they are not married anymore. I know the children because they are my husband's kids.'
