On November 28, 2019, a gruesome discovery was made at the Lamuria Garden apartments in Nairobi, where Monica Kimani had been staying. The caretaker, Mr. Regan Buluku, testified in the murder trial of Joseph Irungu, alias Jowie, describing the horrifying scene when they broke into the house and found her lifeless body in the bathtub.

According to Mr. Buluku, the decision to break in was made after Monica's brother's attempts to reach her were unsuccessful, prompting him to seek the caretaker's assistance. When they first peeped into the house, they heard running water, the TV was on, the lights were on, and there seemed to be candles lit in the bathtub.

Upon closer inspection, they found Monica's body, lifeless, with her hands and legs tied with a strap, and the tap in the bathtub left running. Her throat had been slit open. Mr. Buluku immediately called the security manager, who informed the police.

Mr. Buluku also revealed that CCTV cameras to the apartments were not working around the time of the murder. He noticed a small yellow bag that had been hung on the lock, behind the main door, and there were utensils, empty beer cans, and bottles on the table in the living room.

Mr. Buluku was testifying in the murder trial of Joseph Irungu and Jacque Maribe. The hearing continues.
