On Tuesday, officers from the Special Crime Prevention Unit and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations conducted a swoop in Burumba, an outskirt of Busia Town, following a tip-off from the public.
During the operation, they recovered an AK 47 rifle, three arrows, and a motorbike believed to have been used by the suspects in criminal activities.
The three suspects were taken to Busia Police Station for further questioning.
The rifle, which had been stolen from a police officer in Siaya County three weeks ago, was found to have had 30 ammunition before it was stolen, but the magazine was empty.
According to the police, the gun is believed to have been used by the suspects to carry out criminal activities for the last three weeks.
There have been cases of shootings in various parts of the county recently, with a woman killed in Nambweke and a 22-year-old man killed in Budalang’i last week.
