The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has launched a nationwide recruitment drive for cadets, targeting to recruit 3,000 candidates. The recruitment was initially set to begin on October 28, but was postponed following an uproar by MPs over the change of listing centres from sub-counties to counties.
According to Vice Chief of Defence Forces Lieutenant General Robert Kibochi, the recruitment will run from November 28 to December 16, this year. The drive aims to address shortfalls and demand for specialised skills consistent with technological advancement and modernisation within the KDF.
Speaking at the Department of Defence headquarters in Nairobi, Kibochi said: "The annual recruitment is necessitated by the need to address shortfalls and demand for specialised skills consistent with technological advancement and modernisation within Kenya Defence Forces."
The recruitment process will be monitored by 26 teams headed by the chief recruiting officer Brigadier John Warioba, and will be witnessed by officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, National Intelligence Service, and Transparency International to ensure transparency.
Successful candidates are expected to report for training at Recruits Training School in Eldoret.
