On November 28, 2019, four witnesses took the stand in the Monica Kimani murder case, shedding light on the life and death of the 24-year-old businesswoman.

Monica Kimani had been living with a man named Yaseen in her Lamuria apartment, where her body was discovered shortly after she arrived in the country from South Sudan.

According to the witnesses, Yaseen visited the apartment in 2018 to collect his belongings, but was not present during Monica's burial.

The first witness, a gardener named Regan Buluku, narrated how he entered Monica's apartment through the balcony and became the first to see her body in the bathtub.

Delivery executive Dennis Wanjala testified that he was sent to collect an item from Monica when she landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on the day of her murder.

Chelang'at Ruto, a friend of co-accused Jacque Maribe, confirmed being with the journalist and Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on the night of the murder, but denied any involvement in the crime.

The prosecution is set to close its case with seven more witnesses expected to testify.
