On November 27, 2019, New Kenya Cooperative Creameries (New KCC) marked a significant milestone in the dairy industry by launching a brand of lactose-free milk.
The new product, Gold Crown lactose-free milk, is designed to cater to the needs of lactose intolerant consumers who find it difficult to digest regular milk.
According to Trade and Industrialisation Secretary Peter Munya, the launch of the new product is a strategic move by New KCC to expand its market base locally and in the region, thereby boosting its market share.
"This is a new move by New KCC that will help it to reach new markets using this innovation," Munya said during the launch.
Managing Director Nixon Sigey expressed optimism that the new brand would help the company increase its revenue.
With the launch of Gold Crown lactose-free milk, New KCC joins Bio Food Products as a local firm producing lactose-free milk, targeting the high-end market.
