On November 27, 2019, a surprising scene unfolded at the BBI report launch at Bomas of Kenya. President Uhuru Kenyatta's security detail escorted Dennis Itumbi, the Director of Digital New Media and Diaspora at the Presidential Strategic and Communication Unit (PSCU), away from the presidential podium.
According to footage seen by Standard Digital, two bodyguards led Itumbi away from the dais behind the first layer of Uhuru's security detail, which included the president, his deputy William Ruto, Raila Odinga, BBI taskforce chairman Yusuf Haji, and Tanzania Foreign Affairs Minister Palamagamba Kabudi.
Itumbi later downplayed the incident on Twitter, saying,
