On November 27, 2019, Australian forex broker IC Markets announced the results of a poll that ranked the top forex trading entities across Africa and the Mediterranean.
51 Capital, a Kenyan online forex trading company under the Candy and Candy stable, emerged second in the poll, narrowly edging out South Africa's Sandile Shezi, who took home the top prize of £20,000 (Ksh2.6 million).
51 Capital's owner, city businessman Joe Kariuki, expressed his gratitude and delight at the win, stating, 'I have been toiling hard at this new venture and to get such a huge honor so soon, to get recognized so fast and by such a reputable firm is beyond humbling.'
51 Capital bagged £15,000 (Ksh1.9 million) as prize money for emerging runners-up, while other top traders included Uche ParaGon of Lagos, Nigeria, Forex ACA Ltd of Accra, Ghana, Forex Tunisia Ltd of Tunis, Tunisia, and Arab Forex of Cairo, Egypt.
The competition involved trading a £200,000 (Ksh23.6 million) fund, and the top 10 traders were selected from a pool of hundreds of participants.
