Published on November 27, 2019, Arsenal's future under Unai Emery is uncertain after a poor start to the season.

The Spaniard's position is being considered on a game-by-game basis, with head of football Raul Sanllehi having a long-standing relationship with Nuno's agent Jorge Mendes.

Despite Mauricio Pochettino's links to a move across north London, Nuno has caught the attention of the Arsenal hierarchy with his achievements at Wolves.

The 45-year-old Portuguese manager led Wolves to the Championship title two years ago and guided his team to a seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season.

Wolves' initial struggles in the Europa League have given way to a rich vein of form, with the team now sitting fifth in the Premier League table and poised to qualify from their Europa League group.

Arsenal fans have been calling for Emery's sacking, and the team's 2-2 draw against Southampton on Saturday only added to the pressure.

The club may decide to put first-team coach Freddie Ljungberg and academy boss Steve Bould in charge until the summer, when top-tier candidates like Nuno will be more readily available.
